About us

The Stolleis family is the twelfth generation of winegrowers. A classic family owned business with a focus on artisanal Rieslings, Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines. We cultivate our vineyards, which are located between Neustadt and Deidesheim in the best sites in the Pfalz, organically and sustainably certified. Precise craftsmanship, time-consuming manual harvesting, spontaneous fermentation in traditional wooden barrels and a long ageing period result in top wines with outstanding ageing potential.

Wine Estate

We focus on artisanal Rieslings, Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines. The entry level - estate wines - fermented in stainless steel tanks, have a modern, fresh and low alcohol style, still dry but with some residual sugar at a reasonable price level. From village wine onwards, everything is fermented spontaneously (partly for the estate wines). The single-vineyard wines are matured up to two years in large oak barrels. These top wines grow in world-renowned Grand Crus such as Gimmeldinger Meerspinne and Biengarten, Königsbacher Idig and Ölberg.

Spätburgunder - Estate wine

Hand-picked and fermented on the skins for around three weeks, the wine was aged and matured for around 21 months in barriques that had been used several times and in a traditional large oak barrel. The Pinot Noir estate wine is characterized by fine and precise fruit flavors such as cherry and raspberry, with a bouquet reminiscent of freshly brewed black tea.

A subtle and soft tannin structure and fresh acidity support the complex flavor impression with good length.

Spätburgunder Gimmeldinger Meerspinne - Grand Cru

During the growing season, the yield is reduced several times to obtain particularly aromatic grapes. Before pressing, the grapes undergo a second visual inspection before being crushed. Depending on the vintage, we add 10% and 30% of whole grapes to fermentation on the skins. After maceration, the mash is gently pressed and the wine is placed in barriques for aging. For the Meerspinne, we use 50% new French oak barriques to provide a suitable counterpart to the intense aromas of the wine with the fine wood. After a maturation period of approximately 18 months, the best barriques for this wine are selected and bottled unfiltered and unfined. On the nose, the wine surprises with lots of flint, dark berries, and a beautiful spiciness. On the palate, it has lots of texture, tightly knit tannins, and a fine, fresh acidity.

Riesling "Stresskiller" - Estate wine

The grapes for Stresskiller were harvested by hand at the perfect moment of ripeness. Pressed gently, clarified overnight through natural sedimentation, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks and, after seven months of maturation on the fine lees, bottled at the beginning of April. Peter Gaymann, a cartoonist known throughout Germany, once again came up with a fitting idea for the label this year. The Stresskiller is a fresh, crisp Riesling with typical aromas of green apple, lime, and vineyard peach. The taut acidity gives the wine an invigorating tension and encourages to have another glass.

Riesling Gimmeldingen - Village wine

The grapes for this Riesling come from our premier Gimmeldingen vineyards (Biengarten, Kapellenberg, Mandelgarten) – partly from younger plots and partly from the early harvest. The wine is characterized by its origin: the red sandstone typical of Gimmeldingen and the “limestone islands” of Biengarten and Mandelgarten. This ping-pong game between red sandstone and limestone-rich origins makes for an exceptionally exciting wine. Added to this is the cool evening breeze from the Gimmeldingen valley, which quickly cools the grapes during the ripening period, thus preserving their characteristic acidity. Together, this results in an expressive wine with aromas of citrus fruit and vineyard peach, complemented by a fine acidity that provides structure and aging potential.

Riesling Gimmeldinger Meerspinne - Grand Cru

From our prime vineyard, the old Gimmeldinger Meerspinne vineyard. Nighttime winds from the nearby Gimmeldinger Valley preserve its characteristic acidity and freshness. On the east-facing slope, the vines are rooted in limestone covered by a layer of red sandstone and loess. Fermented with vineyard-specific yeasts in traditional Palatinate oak barrels. A wine like a good book – full of elegance, excitement, and ever-changing facets.
