About us

THE PATH TO GOOD WINE

ORGANIC WINES
300 Years of Passion for Wine.
Since 1956, we´ve done so in the most ecological way possible - making us Germany´s oldest organic winery. Today, we continue to lead as pioneers in sustainable winemaking.

WINES FULL OF LIFE
Our vineyards are living ecosystems. By respecting the rich flora and fauna that thrive among our vines, we create wines that are flavorful, unique and full of vitality. With every bottle, we ensure flourishing landscape for future generations.

SUSTAINABILITY IS OUR FUTURE
Healthy soils and natural biodiversity make our vineyards more resilient to climate change. Working in harmony with nature - from earthworms to wildflowers - we protect water retention and preserve living ecosystems. For us, viticulture with a future must be sustainable.

CRAFTED BY HAND, GUIDED BY EXPERIENCE
Great wine is the result of human touch. Each vine is carefully shaped by hand throughout the year. Our team of experienced growers knows the rhythm of the seasons and the right moment for every step. Every bottle reflects this dedication to craftsmanship.

TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION
Patience and precision guide our cellar work. Whether in oak barrels, stainless steel, or clay amphorae, we give each wine the time it needs to develop character. Our philosophy combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, ensuring the best expression of every grape.

A FAMILIY LAGACY
We are now the generation committed to organic viticulture, with the fourth already joining us. We see ourselves not as owners, but as guardians of the land, ensuring that our vineyards remain healthy and productive for generations to come.

Wine Estate
Winery / Bottler

Sander produces premium wines of local and internationnally respected grape varieties. Their most important grapes are Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Precision is a leading maxim in their work. Pioneering again in his will to reinvent regional charakteristics of the Rheinhessen terroir, individally inergreted with the "Sander spirit".

Trio – Traditional Cuvée 2025

This year, the Trio is our anniversary wine – we are celebrating 70 years of organic viticulture. Organically managed vineyards in eastern Rheinhessen. Traditionally crushed, clarified and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Clarified and bottled after 3 months’ ageing.

A pale, sparkling yellow with distinct green highlights. A fragrant, lively opening on the nose with light fruits such as pear, young apple, elderflower and a subtle hint of nutmeg. Refreshing on the palate with an elegant structure.

Riesling 2025 dry

Organically farmed vineyards in eastern Rheinhessen, primarily on loess, sand, gravel and clay soils. Traditionally crushed, clarified and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Clarified and bottled after 3 months’ ageing.

A delicate yellow colour with distinct green highlights. Freshness is the order of the day here: crisp green apple, citrus and young peach, complemented by a delicate note of elderflower with subtle hints of minerality.

Riesling Spätlese 2025

A south-west-facing slope and 25-year-old vines. This is the foundation for the juicy, ripe little Riesling grapes. We harvest the grapes at over 90 Öchsle – an exceptional figure for this Spätlese. Fermentation is then carried out very slowly under temperature control, ensuring that a delicate sweetness remains in the final wine.

A pale, radiant yellow with distinct green highlights. Delicate fruity notes of apple, peach, honeydew melon and apricot pour from the glass. The lively palate impresses with a pleasant and vibrant sweetness, accompanied by a refreshing acidity.

Sauvignon Blanc 2025

First cultivated by us in 1995, this variety is now grown in four different plots around Mettenheim. Each with its own distinct character, they combine to create this unique flavour. We crush the freshly harvested grapes in an oxygen-free environment at cool temperatures. After an extended maceration period of 18 hours, we press the must. We ferment the clarified juice in STAINLESS STEEL TANKS. After three months’ ageing on the lees, we bottle the young wine.

A medium, sparkling golden-yellow colour with distinct green highlights. A distinctive Sauvignon nose, with plenty of exotic fruit – mango, passion fruit and star fruit – intermingled with fresh mint, green pepper and blackcurrant leaves; a hint of grapefruit lends it an extra touch of freshness.

A very fruit-forward, refreshing wine with invigorating acidity and a mineral note on the finish.

Réserve Chardonnay 2024

My favourite plot in the Schlossberg – small but exquisite, with calcareous soil and low-yielding Chardonnay vines – a real gem nestled amongst the slopes. Hand-harvested, destemmed, with 10 per cent whole berries added to the juice, then fermented in French tonneaux and an amphora. Aged for 12 months on the fine lees and bottled unfiltered.

The wine’s golden-yellow colour already promises a wonderful aroma. On the nose, one can detect woody notes, saffron and cardamom. Once it has been exposed to oxygen, fruity notes of ripe apricots, orange peel and vanilla unfold. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, balanced by firm acidity resulting from the prior oak ageing. The fine texture and the complex, long finish make for a truly delightful experience.

Vom Löss Mettenheimer Spätburgunder 2024

Mettenheimer Pinot Noir from loess soil

These grapes grow on young Pinot Noir vines in our top vineyards. Defoliated early to allow the grapes to soak up the necessary sunshine, the vineyards are bursting with vigour. Harvested before they are too ripe, the Pinot Noir retains its delicacy. The wine is then fermented on the skins for 12 days and aged for a year in barriques and tonneaux (500 l) that have been used three to five times.

A deep garnet red with lighter hues towards the rim. Ripe sour cherries, blackberries, plums and dried figs mingle with undergrowth, tree bark and black pepper. The supple palate flirts with delicate fruit sweetness, soft tannins and lively acidity. The medium-length finish is extremely stimulating and mineral.

Michelsberg Pinot Blanc 2025

Our oldest Pinot Blanc vineyard is situated on a series of terraces directly above the village. The grapes are hand-picked and stored in large wooden barrels for spontaneous fermentation. We then wait and enjoy the wine until fermentation, malolactic fermentation and clarification have been completed – a process taking around 7 months. A wine needs peace and quiet, and to be admired in silence.

Pale golden yellow with delicate green highlights. A very charming bouquet of ripe pear, ripe apple, lemon zest and apricot wafts from the glass. As it breathes, distinct aromas of privet blossom, acacia twigs, celery and vanilla emerge. Yeasty aromas and notes of pastry complement this charming impression perfectly. The compact, creamy palate features very well-integrated acidity and subtle tannins. The finish reveals delicate toasted notes reminiscent of latte.
