About us
Weingut Fritz Waßmer (Wassmer) was established in 1998 by Fritz Waßmer, growing out of a passion for the grapes and wines of Burgundy and a will to uncover the potential of those grapes in Baden.
The Pinot grapes are the focus of the estate, with a particular emphasis on Pinot Noir.
Fritz Wassmer: "We harvest everything by hand without compromise and only the best grapes go into the cellar. The ripeness of the grapes is crucial; the wine tastes like the grapes in the vineyard. What is not in the fruit cannot be added later.”

Products & Services
Whereas much of Germany is best known for Riesling, Baden is famed for the grapes of the Pinot family (called Burgunder in German).
At over 60% of the total vineyard, Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder in German) is often in the spotlight at our estate. But in fact, our focus is on all three Pinot varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc (Weisser Burgunder), and Pinot Gris (Grauer Burgunder), together with Chardonnay.
Furthermore, the conditions for grape-growing here make it ideal for the other varieties in our portfolio, too: Sauvignon Blanc, Auxerrois, Frühburgunder, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon all have important roles to play.
Muskat Petits Grains
A delicious white sparkling wine: Elderflower and lychee, with fine rose perfume in the background. White currants. Wonderfully fruity and effervescent on the palate, with fine sweetness, yet refreshing. A soft, lightly sweet finish. Unfiltered.
2023 Weißer Burgunder
A classic Pinot Blanc: White peach, green apple, and a bit of beeswax. Fresh and fruity, the palate offers plenty of density and lovely structure, while also being fresh, light, and lively, with aa long, salty finish.
2022 Chardonnay Réserve
A fine Chardonnay: Lemon cream with a touch of pineapple thrills the nose. Wonderfully fresh on the palate, with light tropical fruit accompanied by citrus fruit tempting the senses, underscored by spice and a lively finish. Perfect for right now, it will provide great drinking pleasure for the next 5-9 years as well.
2022 Spätburgunder Réserve
A full-bodied Pinot Noir: Black cherry, red cherry, blueberry, and a little bitter chocolate caressed by salt spray. Full and smooth, the aromas from the nose are mirrored on the palate, accompanied by salt caramel and a pleasing freshness. Some grip makes itself felt on the middle palate. Long in the finish and ready to drink.
2020 Spätburgunder Alte Reben
A classic Pinot Noir: Sour cherry and red currant, with fresh herb and bay leaf. Full red fruit and rich spices emerge on the palate. Together with its fine tannic structure and pleasant freshness, this wine offers layers of complexity and enlivens the senses. Mineral, long, fascinating.
2012 Chardonnay Auslese
A noble sweet wine: A subtle nose of ripe, fresh figs, lemon zest, and applesauce. Smooth and finely sweet on the palate, with a lovely freshness that keeps you coming back for more. Toasted hazelnuts and pine nuts in the finish. Lovely, and not too sticky.
