About us

FLAT IS EASY, WE LOVE IT STEEP!

Steep slope means: Pure nature, spectacular landscapes, always a bit of adventure, perfect sunlight and especially because: Riesling, is in a league of its own! We have decided with full conviction and with all passion for wine growing in this unique cultured landscape, because the very special combination of different slate soils and different slopes is exactly what makes Mosel wines so unique.

Since MDCCXLIV

We are able to look back on a long history – first mentioned in 1744. Even without a Chateau or noble blood, we can be recognized by our quality, inventiveness, innovations, honest work, fast service and fair prices. Because of this we have conquered the hearts of a colorful crowd of wine lovers from around the world in recent years.

Quality fanatics from the Riesling-Canyon

By consciously low yields and using ungrafted vines, we can always guarantee a high quality. The careful vinification, gentle grape processing, cool, slow, partly spontaneous fermentation and ripening result in individual Riesling wines, which reflect the uniqueness of the vintage and the vineyard.

Grauschiefer Riesling dry

This is “Mosel-PUR”. One of the most beautiful representatives of this style that has been around for so long and cannot be copied anywhere else. Full of energy, excitement and liveliness. It is touching, strong in character, full of minerality and so wonderfully elegant and salty. Something like the perfect marriage of physiological ripeness with lively acidity. Made of stainless steel, fresh and clear and yet read precisely to the point.

Vom Berg Riesling off-dry

Our cooler, higher vineyards have slate soils that are rich in fine soil and are therefore good at retaining water. Year after year, one of the most exciting and precise Rieslings is produced in these locations. A short period of fine yeast rounds off the juicy, finesse fruit aroma.

Red Slate Riesling Kabinett

These are the vines that are rooted in a steep, slate-weathered soil in Rotlegen and produce very aromatic small berries. An impressive slate-spicy note that combines with a certain saltiness and hints of mint and lemon balm. There is still no indication of possible residual sweetness in the Riesling. This only becomes apparent on the palate when the wine fans out and reveals its creamy, silky texture. This is a wine for lovers of fine, elegant Riesling with a perfect balance of fruit and acidity.

Edition Red dry

A fine cuvée from sandy loam soils. A powerful and at the same time elegant dark fruity wine. Blackcurrants, blackberries and plums create a dark fruity and spicy impression. Fine tannins and a balanced acid structure ensure a fresh aftertaste. This is a spicy, earthy red wine with elegant fruit that is already drinking well.
