Conni &Frank Chilena meets Roihess. Met on a winemaking trip in New Zealand 2013, fell in love in Germany in 2014, travelled around the world once, rocked the cellar together, and now with a small, crazy family with three kids.

Heerkretz Our Siefersheim Heerkretz: planted on very stony volcanic rock, steep slopes, cool nights, long ripening period, a VDP ‘GG’ vineyard – arguably one of the finest vineyards for Riesling and Pinot Noir in the world.

The ‘Primeval Sea’ vines grow where the ancient primeval sea once lapped at the shore. Smooth, rounded pebbles, shark’s teeth, mussels and oysters bear witness to this.

Unique Design, soils, unlike almost anywhere else in Rheinhessen. Our volcano symbolises the volcanic activity in our region 290 million years ago. Our majestic whale symbolises the primeval sea that covered our present-day vineyards 30 million years ago.

We make our wine in the vineyard. Trust is of the utmost importance in the cellar. Sensing what the wines need – or don’t need. Careful handling and experience lay the foundation for wines with character and terroir.

Our homeland is as diverse as the ancient coral reefs that once existed here in the region. It is a mix of farmland, meadows, woods, heathland and, of course, our beloved vineyards.
