About us
Riffel is a family winery in Germany's famous winegrowing area Rheinhessen. Located at the confluence of the Rhein and Nahe rivers in Bingen am Rhein, the winery has been run by Carolin and Erik Riffel since 2005.
The winery follows organic principles since 2009 and converted to biodynamic viticulture in 2012. Riffel cultivates Riesling, Silvaner and Burgundy already in the 4th generation on 18 hectares in the top Bingen vineyards of Scharlachberg, Kirchberg, Osterberg and Rosengarten. The unique quartzite soils of the Binger Rochusberg lend the wines an elegant character with an intense minerality. All wines are vegan certified.
Riffel is a member of Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen, the association of the best wineries in Rheinhessen. Beyond that the 2022 Binger Scharlachberg Riesling dry was ranked 10th in James Suckling's “TOP 100 WINES OF GERMANY 2023” with 99 points by editor-in-chief Stuart Pigott. “Our No. 10 German wine is a great achievement for the Riffel winery in the long forgotten northwest corner of Rheinhessen. With enormous determination and persistence, Erik and Carolin Riffel have been working at perfecting dry Riesling from the Scharlachberg site, a long-forgotten grand cru.”

Binger Scharlachberg Riesling dry
Our “flagship” stands for vibrant energy, powerful fruit and accurately reflects its warm, very sunny location. Pure aromas of ripe fruits such as apricot, peach, mirabelle plum and some mango in combination with wild flint will seduce every wine lover! This Riesling goes wonderfully with steamed fish or seafood, with white meat with light sauces or with Asian-spicy dishes. Also goes perfectly with sashimi.
Riffel Pet Nat dry
Sparkling, fresh, exciting – that’s our Pet Nat. It is a genuine Pétillant naturel made from Pinot blanc & Scheurebe grapes. Unfiltered and cloudy with yeast, it conjures up a taste experience that conjures up the image of a pear tree in the middle of a herb meadow in your mind's eye. Not only fantastic as an aperitif, but also excellent with a savory goat's cheese and tomato tart.
Bingen Kirchberg Riesling Kabinett
Our newcomer is a fine mineral Riesling with a vibrant sweet-acid interplay that creates brilliant excitement with aromas of peach, nectarine, orange blossom and cassis! This fresh and light-footed Kabinett goes particularly well with curries and spicy Asian food, as the slight residual sweetness often balances out the spiciness.
